Gotta love the hacker community. They always manage to play against the rules, and this time, to our benefit. Remember yesterday’s news where we talked about how AT&T plans to block your ability to tether your iPhone using a Jailbreak Cydia app called MyWi or else you’ll loose much needed benefits like an old Unlimited data plan? Well the whole reason why AT&T knows you’ve got a Jailbroken iPhone using MyWi is because the App announces you’re tethering through it. Most likely, the crew behind MyWi will have this updated, but in the meantime we’d recommend you have a look at another Cydia app called PdaNet.
It isn’t 100% certain that this solution will work since today is still not August 11th when AT&T plans to begin their evil project, but we’d recommend you give it a try and see if you still get those annoying text messages from AT&T telling you you’re not paying for tethering. It seems to be free for the most part, so you’ve got nothing to loose. It has a special mode built in that blocks announcing you’re currently tethering, so make sure you activate it before you use it. For more information on how PdaNet works, head on over to their website.
