Once in a while we see a technology come along, or in this case a mobile app, that is so revolutionary that we can’t help but feel the true impact of technological innovation that has only accelerated in the last few years.
What if you could wear goggles that would, in real time, convert foreign languages to your own? Yes, it’s somewhat of a James Bond-like prospect, but this technology is here today with Word Lens, although in this case it’s not goggles that is doing the work, but your iPhone. This app uses the camera on your iPhone to convert English to Spanish (or the reverse) in real time, maintaining the fidelity of the object that you’re looking at. It’s truly magic, and it works very well. The app is free, but to get the a language pack, it’ll be $5. The company says that French will be the next language added to the app, with Italian, and others to follow. The future is now!
