Apple had promised that in addition to third-party apps, we should see third-party hardware that will tap into the dock connector of the iOS devices to give extra functions. Now, we’re seeing some of those accessories beginning to hit the market. In addition to Apple’s partnership with Nike to bring the Nike+ kit, a company called Wahoo is hoping to target the iOS-toting, fitness-conscious audience with a sensor kit that will tap wirelessly into heart rate monitors, blood pressure monitors, weigh scales, and more. The company’s two accessories–one is just a little dongle that plugs into the dock connector and the second is the sensor embedded within an iPhone case for added protection–will make use of the ANT+ protocol to make it compatible with a number of devices from a number of manufacturers. The Fisica Fitness Key–the mentioned dongle–retails for $80 while the company’s integrated sensor case, the Fisica Sensor Case will go $140. The Fitness Case also includes an integrated battery to keep you going on a single charge for longer. The Fitness Key is available now and the Sensor Case is available for pre-order and will start shipping in November.
