Verizon iPhone to Cost More Off-Contract Than AT&T

It looks like Verizon wants to make you pay a double premium to use the iPhone on their network without a contract. According to the FAQ page for the Verizon iPhone, the off-contract price for the 16GB version will be $649 (versus $599 on AT&T) and an eyebrow-raising $749 for the 32GB version (versus $699 on AT&T). Why the premium? Due to the extremely high demand of the only reliable variant of the iPhone in the US (oh-no-we-didn’t!), consumers are probably more than willing to shell out an extra $50 to be able to use the iPhone on Verizon without a contract.
