Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) is the one that’s going to manufacture Apple’s upcoming A6 chip as the distance between the company in Cupertino and its former supplier (now rival) Samsung is getting bigger and bigger. The A6 chip will reportedly be the one powering the next iPhone after the one we expect Apple to release this year.

According to Taiwan Economic News, the trial production of the Apple A6 chips has started. The information comes from sources in the industry and comes as a confirmation of the Apple-Samsung break-up (at least in SoCs as Cupertino still might order some iPad screens though). As we’ve gotten used to by now, we expect to see the new chip on the next iPad first, before Apple includes it in its iPhone.
