Starbucks seems to take value driven service quite seriously. As of yesterday they’ve begun a new promotion where they’ll be giving away a free iPhone app after you complete a purchase in their coffee shops. All you have to do is pick up the “Pick of the Week” card in the cash register, type in a code that’s on the back of the card in the App Store redeem section, and your free download will begin.
Sadly Starbucks knows the coffee drinking habits of diehard customers like me, so the promotion seems to only a different app every week. If they offered one per latte, I’d most likely complete the App Store in under a month, but on the bright side, at least the extra cards make good gifts for friends. Don’t think you’ll be scammed with cheap and trashy apps by the way, their first offering is Shazam Encore, which currently costs $5.99 in the App Store, so the promotion seems like a good deal in every way.
So while you’re out getting your latte, watch this prank call Steve Jobs made to Starbucks on the launch of the first generation iPhone:
