Apple just recently released an updated version of its iOS mobile platform — 5.0.1 — to developers and we already have jailbreak reports coming in. Until a permanent (untethered) jailbreaking solution is found, we’ll have to suffice with what we have, the tethered and semi-tethered solutions.
We’re quite positive you remember the semi-tethered jailbreak which is more than a tethered one but definitely less than an untethered solution. According to recent reports, the semi-tethered jailbreak still works with (for the moment) developer-only installs of iOS 5.0.1 so we’re glad to see Apple didn’t patch things up.
