Facebook started offering video calling as a direct effect of the collaboration with Skype, an offering which is available to (some) users of the social network on the desktop. According to recent reports, the next version of the Facebook Messenger app will bring video calls.
The new version of the application is reportedly already being tested out in the wild and a final version should not be that far out. When the update is being pushed out, users with supported devices will not only be able to video chat among them but also with desktop users too. Of course, an Android equivalent shouldn’t be that far out either. Will this kill Skype on your mobile?
