Apple has released an updated version of its iOS 4.3 preview for developers, bumping the revision up to beta 2 (build 9F5135d). There are no confirmations just yet as to the existence of any new features, but we have learned that one of the anticipated additions that appeared in the original 4.3 beta – new multi-touch gestures – won’t make it into the final 4.3 release.
While purportedly for the iPad, we looked into the possibility of these gestures making their way to the iPhone, perhaps acting as a replacement for the Home button. It turns out that those features were really for developer’s eyes only, as Apple doesn’t plan on introducing them in 4.3 after all; it was more of a heads-up as to what they could expect in future iOS releases. Now, if that’s going to be 4.4, 5.0, or who knows how far down the line – we can’t say. For now, at least, the Home button isn’t going anywhere.
