For a minute there, I thought this was humor material until I noticed the Ad is officially on Apple’s YouTube channel. Apple’s new Ad claims that the iPhone 4 will let you do a ton of more things for a longer time period, but given no iPhone is in any way spectacular in their battery performance, we’re left with the big question: Longer than what?
That’s right, the iPhone is the only device that’s made me need to buy a car charger. Smartphones in general have never been smart in lasting for more than a day, but I guess it comes with the territory given you do a lot more with smartphone than with a feature phone. Smartphones require larger screens, more sensors, higher resolution displays always need more juice to keep them going, and since you have to add phone calls to the list of features, it can get tough for some users.
Now if we had to compare the iPhone to other Smartphones in the market, I could easily consider it the worst performing device I’ve ever owned yet. I could blame its poor performance to how inviting the UI is into watching a video, or playing a game, but then again, I’d expect Apple to have considered this before shipping it. The simple fact that it looses around 20% of its battery during the night while you don’t even touch it, is bad enough.
So in the end, surely the iPhone 4 does work longer than the old iPhone 3GS, but I’m sure the list ends there. Do you know of any other Smartphone that does a worse job?
