These apps will keep you entertained, allow you to remotely connect to your PC or Mac, and give you valuable information in a situation of survival. To download these apps directly to your iPhone, just click on the title of the application and the iTunes software will automatically launch to the app in the App Store. If you have the free Google Search app installed on your iPhone just snap a picture of the QR-Code using Google Goggles or any other QR-Code scanner that will launch the App Store on your iPhone.
Ringtone Designer Lite and $0.99 full version
Ringtone Designer is an easy to use ringtone creation app that lets you make ringtones from your music on your iOS device. The app lets you preview which portion of a song you would like as a ringtone and saves it directly to the Ringtone Designer apps. To make the saved ringtone accessible from the settings menu just move the ringtone to the ringtones folder in iTunes.
Qik A free application
Qik is one of the best and well know live streaming video services around. Share live video to virtually anyone by granting them access to your Qik account. Upload recorded video to the Qik server for future viewing.
TextNow A free application with other paid services
TextNow is a great way to stay in touch with friends and family in other countries. This app allows you to text message over a data connection to any mobile device for free. Send messages to your friends overseas or to someone with an iPad or iPod Touch. The app gives you your own phone number that will stay active as long as you continue to use the TextNow app.
Garmin No lite and prices vary based on which maps you purchase
Garmin has been around for a long time and has remained the easiest navigation service to use. This app will download whichever maps you purchase directly to your iOS device. With the maps downloaded there is no need to have a data connection while you are in a remote location or foreign country. The turn-by-turn navigation will speak street names and distances.

If you have ever flown a kite or gone sailing you know how important it is to have the wind on your side. Wind Alert will deliver detailed information about wind speeds, direction, averages, and predictions to help prevent your next windless activity.
