The yet unreleased for the public Apple iOS 5 which will hit devices this fall is hinting towards to new, yet unreferenced, probably iPhone upgrade models, the iPhone 4,1 and 4,2.
The new iPhone will most probably be the iPhone 5 as a fourth generation iPhone — the iPhone 3G is considered to be the first generation and the iPhone 4 the third, with Verizon’s latest being the iPhone 3,3. The reference though to an iPhone 4,1 and an iPhone 4,2 — probably the GSM and CDMA versions of the iPhone 5 — doesn’t mean that Apple will actually go through with these but nevertheless, they’re there.
