How to Turn Your iPhone Into a Mobile Theater (Video)

With a few pieces of equipment and a rooted iPhone, you can have a mobile theater system that projects up to a 100″ display onto a wall with loud external audio. For this, you’ll need a rooted iPhone (and the TVOutTuner app from Cydia), plus a Pico project (the one we used was the Optoma PK301, which is $399 from Amazon, but there’s a sub-$300 model, the PK201, available), and an external set of speakers. Finally, you’ll need the video-out cables for the iPhone, plus a converter from composite to 3.5mm. Naturally, you can do this with Android devices too…it’s especially easy if you’re working with an HDMI output.
