Apple may be ready with its iPhone 4 redesign following the Antennagate “scandal”, as some pictures of components have emerged that show what looks like a remanufactured integrated antenna.
When Apple built the iPhone 4 antenna into the case’s metal exterior, it inadvertently set up a situation that could lead to dropped calls. The way some users handled their phones, they ended up interfering with the exposed antenna’s ability to successfully send and receive data. Though the problem can be mitigated with bumper cases, some users have been anxious for Apple to rethink its design and come up with a lasting solution.
This new iPhone shell comes along with several other slightly-modified phone components. If these are legit, they likely point to something like the Verizon iPhone or maybe even the 4G model AT&T is readying for. The site that has released video of the components likes to say they’re for the “iPhone 5″, but the changes are just so minor, with the antenna the only one worth caring about, that seem likely to be part of a modified design of existing iPhone 4 hardware. We don’t want to call it the “iPhone 4.5″, but that’s the sort of change this feels like. We’d expect a little more from Apple for the next full-fledged iPhone release.
Update: Looks like the video above has been pulled due to copyright claim by Apple. While this could lead your first thought in the direction of the Verizon CDMA iPhone, we still need to hold on untill an official statement confirms anything.
