Google Sync came to save the day for many iOS users that wanted the Exchange functionality of getting Push email and both Calendar and Contacts sync, without having to pay those $99 a year for MobileMe, or the $120 a year for a hosted Exchange mailbox. Sadly the free price tag came at a price since Google Sync was a very different animal to its paid competitors where certain features didn’t work.
As of today, Google Sync now supports Mail Server Search for those of you who really rely on both old and new email. You can also now accept meeting requests and confirm appointments through your iPhone. If you’re currently already using Google Sync on your iPhone, there’s really nothing you need to do, just enjoy the new services. And if you’re on the list of people that didn’t know this functionality existed, but want it, have a look at the iOS Google Sync setup guide for instructions on how to get it working.
