AT&T has introduced an iPhone and BlackBerry app for U-Verse voice customers which provides a notification when a message is left on the home phone, as well as the ability to listen to, delete, or change the read/unread status of that message. What’s more, the so-called AT&T Voicemail Viewer enables the forwarding of messages via email, and also gives users one-click call back functionality plus the option to add voicemail callers to the local phonebook.
There also seem to be desktop solutions in the form of iGoogle and Vista Sidebar widgets, so it looks like AT&T is trying to keep you pretty on top of things here. AT&T describes the app as very much like an inbox for your landline voicemail, and based on the press release, that sounds like an appropriate metaphor.
