Apple allegedly told European carriers that the next version of the popular iPhone handset will not feature Near Field Communication (NFC). We’ve seen some purported early design leaks last week but details regarding the next iPhone are still to be filed under the “R” category.
Apple’s motivation in such a move, if the rumors turn out to be true, is the “lack of a clear standard across the industry”. Nevertheless, Apple is said to work on its own payment system due in 2012 which will direct payments through iTunes. So, according to these rumors just in, the early 2011 rumors about NFC in the iPhone 5 have just been demolished. Do you see this as a deal breaker or is Apple true about the lack of standard across the industry?
