About two weeks ago, Apple released the first beta of iOS 5.1 to developers. At the time, it was a bit of a surprise, since the rumors we heard about how Apple might number its releases suggested some more 5.0.x work before moving on to 5.1. Nevertheless, this is the direction we’re now headed, and Apple has continued work on 5.1 with the release of its second beta today.
Possibly the feature that will be best-received in this release is the new ability to remove individual pictures from your Photo Stream. We’ve noted this limitation in the past, and looked at ways to just wipe the whole thing in order to remove unwanted pics, but this sounds like a far more elegant solution; frankly, its one that should have been there from the get-go.
Right after the last beta dropped, we reported on some device strings in that release that pointed to a new iPhone model. Apple must be getting fed up with the never-ending stream of rumors, and in this release it appears to have taken steps to quash them.
Are you ready for the iPhone 7? The iPhone 10? No one’s seriously expecting anything like those until years and years down the road, but they’re showing up in this latest beta. Apple’s peppered the release with so many fictional products that it will be very difficult to ID which are under active development. Nicely played, Apple.
