As initially stated in the iPhone 4S keynote, the phone is available as of today for pre-order. It will land one week later, on October 14, in stores but those who want to make sure they get the latest Apple-phone among the first can now place their pre-orders.

The iPhone 4S sports a faster, dual-core A5 chip (the same that powers the iPad 2), a faster radio and antenna to support HSPA+ 14.4Mbps downloads, and a brand new eight-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture lens and back-illuminated sensor for better low light sensitivity. It goes for $200 for 16GB, $300 for 32GB, and $400 for the new 64GB variant.
