There were several rumors around Apple’s next version of iOS — hopefully to be unveiled at WWDC on June 6 — and especially about the Maps offering, with Cupertino acquiring a couple of mapping companies and also looking to hire iOS map application developers. According to hear-say, Apple is considering moving away from Google Maps and offering its own mapping alternative.
New rumors though talk about iOS 5 and how it will still employ Google mapping data. There are high changes of improvements in the mapping application but it looks like, if the rumors turn out to be true, that Apple is not yet ready to leave Google in terms of maps. What exactly will be in store in the improved application is yet unknown — but not for long — but birds are chirping about a possible turn-by-turn solution being offered too.
