With the relationship between Apple and Samsung deteriorating — Apple sued Samsung over its smartphones for allegedly copying the iPhone’s looks and so on — Apple might be turning its back on the Korean manufacturer that is currently supplying Cupertino with chips for its iPhones.
The information comes from Citi analyst Glen Yueng who claims that Apple is in talks with Intel for future processors to power the upcoming iPhones. Yueng also says that Apple might consider ditching custom ARM chips for Intel based chips. Intel on the other hand wants to be supplier for Apple’s iPhone (and iPad) product but currently does not have the proper chip solutions for pulling this off — but they might have one in time for 2013.
