After having revolutionized the music industry, with iPod, Apple — on the eve of today’s iPad 3 announcement is now preparing to, maybe, make history again in yet another domain: retail catalogs. In fact, just yesterday, Apple added a new category to the iTunes Preview page in the App Store, called Catalogs’. While still empty, this should change today, following the launch of the third generation iPad. Given the huge amount of content users are purchasing from the iTunes Store, this seems to be a smart move and an improved high resolution display will certainly make everything there look better.
On a different note, good news comes for the future owners of whatever Apple announces today, as MacRumors finds it possible for AppleCare+ to also be available for the iPad 3. Apple introduced the $99 AppleCare+ last October, for the iPhone 4S, and the same price should be available soon for the new iPad. While official details are yet to come, we expect the same offering as for the iPhone: coverage for accidental damage for two years and for up to two incidents.
