Tutorial: How To Use Resco Photo Manager Instead of HTC Album

If you are using an HTC HD2 (or another device running a ROM with HTC Sense – that is Manila 2.5) and you are a Resco Photo Manager fan, you might want to launch Resco Photo Manager when tapping a picture or the Albums soft key on the Sense Photos & Videos tab.

You can do that with a few easy steps, thanks to a solution by bbonzz and Luca Rigamondi’s automation. Here’s what you need to do:

1. download RescoHack.zip

2. extract the contents of the zip file to a Folder on your PC’s Desktop (if you get an error later on at step 3, extract the contents to a folder on a the root of a hard drive since the batch automation might not support spaces in paths)

3. inside the extracted Folder on your PC, locate and launch RescoHackHTCAlbumTab.cmd

4. type the exact name of your Storage Card if that’s where you installed Resco Photo Manager or press Enter if you installed to Device

5. type the name of your Programs folder on your Device or press enter if it is called Program Files

6. press C to create a CAB file (or M to generate a Manila file)

7. if you’ve created a CAB file, copy it to your Device and execute it (if you’ve created a Manila file, copy it to Windows folder overwriting the original)

8. Soft Reset

9. Done

Every time you will tap an image in the Photos & Videos tab of Sense, it will no longer open with HTC Album but with Resco Photo Manager. Same goes for tapping the Albums soft key.
