Although this may be obvious to many, I admittedly just learned about this feature a few weeks ago, so perhaps it’ll be helpful to some.

On all HTC on screen keyboards, there are numbers and symbols that appear above the letters in gray. Instead of hitting the “123/Sym” button to call them up, you can just simply tap and hold on any letter to get the one in gray to show up.
