Normally, Windows Mobile Professional devices show 3 columns of icons in the portrait-layout programs folder whether you’ve got a high-resolution VGA screen or the average QVGA screen. However, with a simple registry edit (or CAB file download) in Windows Mobile 6.1, you can shrink those big icons down and give yourself a lot more room for an extra column and row of program listings.
In HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftShell
Add a New Key “IconConfig”
In there Add DWORD Value:
“HorizontalIconSpacing” Dec value=”112″
“VerticalIconSpacing” Dec value=”115″
“IconTitleFontSize” Dec value=”6″
After you do a soft reset, you should see a 4 x 5 icon grid as opposed to the normal 3 x 4 grid, thus letting you see 20 program icons without scrolling as opposed to only 12. By decreasing “HorizontalIconSpacing” to 90, 5 columns of icons can be achieved, but that may be pushing things a bit.
