Zune HD Has Marketplace

We’re starting to see a lot more of the slick Zune HD now. It’s interesting to see something with Microsoft’s name on it running a capacitive screen, and OLED at that.

As seen in the video, the interface of the Zune HD is quite reminiscent of Windows Media Center, wouldn’t you say? The HD has an accelerometer and features very fast screen rotations, but doesn’t work in the menu screens.

And we see that the Zune HD indeed has Marketplace, which Microsoft has been quiet about. Does this mean that it will run Windows Mobile applications? Possibly, though we think that there will be a separate section for Zune since it has different hardware than a typical WinMo phones and devices. We think that Marketplace may be a good way to distribute games to a the Zune HD, which is probably quite capable of running some sweet games. Very interesting. Microsoft may also be using Marketplace to distribute multimedia content right from the device.
