Toshiba Ups the Ante on microSDHC Cards

Toshiba is raising the bar, but not in terms of storage as the maximum storage capacity is 16 GB in the microSDHC format, which is being offered by SanDisk at around $100 at Best Buy though you can find cheaper prices on Amazon.com. Toshiba, however, will be increasing the write speeds to the card from 2MB/sec to 6 MB/sec, or a Class 6 card. The 8 GB Class 6 microSDHC variant should hit soon and the 16 GB Class 6 microSDHC won't be available until April 2009. There is still no word on pricing according to Electronista.

The increased write speeds should be beneficial for photographers with advanced cameras and may help in slightly reducing shutter and write times for smartphones with slightly better cameras.
