Toshiba TG01: A Look at Software

In a video over at the unwired, we get to see more of the software on the Toshiba TG01 than we ever have before. As a refresh, the TG01, soon to be on O2 in Germany, is the first Windows Mobile device to sport the 1GHz Snapdragon chipset. It also has a ginormous 4.1″ screen and yet comes out to be the thinnest Windows Mobile device yet at just 9.9mm. For full specs, check out PDAdb.net.

A few key takeaways from the video:

- The device includes CorePlayer for video playback (nice!), which includes special YouTube support

- If you shake the phone, you can have it take you to the phone dialer or Today screen

- The ribbon interface is essentially a glorified program launcher

- There is an option to have an on-screen D-Pad or mouse pad to help with navigation

We have yet to hear about a release of the TG01 outside of Germany. If we hear anything, you’ll be the first to know!
