Toshiba Portege Goes Universal

The widescreen WVGA Portege now boasts a form factor similar to the aged HTC Universal. North American customers won’t find much love from Toshiba as the new models still sport a tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio along with single-band UMTS/HSDPA. WiFi, Bluetooth, dual cameras, and GPS (on select models) are all in the works. According to Engadget Mobile, the device will run on a Qualcomm processor, although speed isn’t known.

This model closely resembles the new Nokia e90 series with the clamshell design and the buttons that surround the screen. From the image, it loooks like the icons that surround the screen are just indicator icons and the buttons may actually be found on the left and right edges of the keyboard. Look for series number Portege G910 and G920 soon if you’re in any part of the globe other than North America.
