If you have a need for a Windows Mobile device that you could apologetically drop on the ground, splash with water, and roll down a hill, the new industrial models from Trimble may fit the bill. There are two: the Juno SC and SB, the former adding phone functionality (with quadband GSM and triband UMTS with HSDPA). In terms of other specs, they pack a Samsung 533MHz CPU with 128MB ROM and RAM, WiFi, GPS, microSD expansion, and a 3.5″ QVGA (blah) screen. Powering both is a huge 2600mAh battery, which the company claims is good for 14 hours of use with the backlight left on, or 8 hours of use with the backlight plus GPS enabled. These devices aren’t what you’d call “pocketable” at a hardcover-novel thick 30mm. If you want more, click on for specifications of the SC and the SB.
