The Sharp RD-PM10: Another Tilting-Screen Device

There are a ton of advantages to having a tilting screen on a mobile device. Adam Lein could list more than me, but here are some: it allows you to position the device on your dashboard for GPS navigation, it allows for optimism viewing angle (despite where the sun is in the sky) when typing, and it makes for a perfect table-top movie player.

There aren’t many mobile devices that have made this form factor. The Nokia N97, HTC TyTN II and HTC Touch Pro2 come to mind. Though it doesn’t run Windows Mobile (though it is on Windows CE 5.0 core), nor is it a smartphone, the Sharp RD-PM10 is a digital dictionary and multimedia playback device that also has a tilting screen. It’s packing a huge 3500mAh battery with a 4.3″ Wide QVGA screen (like the Omnia), plus has microSD expansion. It looks like this device will see an Asia-only release. As spotted on SlashGear.
