We follow the Shadow II closely at our sister site, AllShadow.com, because, well, that’s what the site is about.
Based on all of the information we have so far from highly reliable sources, plus from things like eBay auctions and FCC sightings, this is what we know: The Shadow II is a refresh of the existing Shadow, which will add Windows Mobile 6.1, UMA (for using HotSpot@Home), a faster processor (260MHz versus 201MHz), bigger battery, and redesigned exterior (with the same SureType keyboard). No 3G, but WiFi remains. Expected to be available in Q3 of this year.
The lack of 3G may be a killer for those looking forward to the new Shadow, but then again, T-Mobile’s 3G network is still in its infancy. We’re curious to see how well the HotSpot@Home will work on the device, as that could save people a lot of money on their phone bill by allowing them to place calls over WiFi.
