It’s fantastic to see the continued innovation for the Windows Mobile platform, despite the next version of the OS due next year. Not only do we have a first for Windows Mobile, but a first for the world of cellphone handsets.
It looks like HTC is planning a device based on the Touch HD that will do WiMax, called the T8290, or the Quartz, according to Czech website iDNES.cz. It’s got all the same specs but adds WiMax. In terms of design, it has sharper corners and no back button – leaving just three hardware keys on the front. We wonder what HTC has planned for the Quartz in the long term, considering the limited availability of WiMax at this time. For now, it’s headed to Russian carrier Yota.
