Sprint Touch Pro Hardware and Software Tour
File under: News
In this video that follows the unboxing, we cover the hardware and software of the Sprint Touch Pro. We find that the hardware, including the keyboard, is nearly identical to the original Touch Pro that was released in Europe, but adds heavy chrome accents that gives the device a high-end feel.
Inside, the Sprint Touch Pro has a Qualcomm 528MB CPU, running with about 330MB of available ROM and 203MB of available RAM. It has a 2.8" VGA touchscreen, assisted GPS, WiFi b & g, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, and USB 2.0. On the rear is a 3.2MP camera with flash, and behind the battery cover is a slot for microSD expansion.
TouchFLO 3D has been visually redesigned for Sprint, though the core functionality is still the same. We find an icon on TouchFLO 3D for Sprint TV, which is just a rebranded version of MobiTV. Over EVDO, the video is smooth, but I wish it were higher resolution to take advantage of the fantastic VGA screen on the Touch Pro.
Overall, Sprint did a good job at leaving the original Touch Pro mostly untouched, save for a few software additions and hardware changes. If you're on Sprint and want the Touch Pro but don't like the added thickness that the keyboard brings, you can opt for the Sprint Touch Diamond which has solid on-screen keyboard options.
