Omnia II and Pro: Five Interesting Facts

Admit it, you’re paying attention to the upcoming Samsung Omnia devices. Perhaps it’s the ultra crisp and high res AMOLED display, or perhaps it’s the screaming 800MHz CPU found on the Omnia Pro. Either way, here are five facts about the new Omnia devices that you may have missed:

1. The Omnia II is thinner than the Touch HD, iPhone, and original Omnia.

2. The Touch Wiz 2.0 interface goes deep, very deep. Samsung has re-skinned the Start menu, Settings menu, even the messaging screen. So far it looks like Touch Wiz 2.0 is more deeply integrated than TouchFLO 3D 2.

Also, Samsung has added the ability to have multiple customized home screens (think Android or Spb Mobile Shell 3.0). So, you could have news widgets on one screen, messaging widgets on another, and contacts on the final.

For a better look at just how deep Touch Wiz 2.0 goes, check out this post.

3. Both devices do FM Radio with RDS (meaning, it’ll tell you the song that is playing if the feature is supported by the radio broadcaster).

4. Both devices can natively record and play 480p HD video.

5. Hitting the cube-looking thing in the center takes you to the cube interface switcher.
