MWC: Toshiba TG01 Disappointments

WMExperts got some hands-on time with the upcoming Toshiba TG01. That’s the device with a massive 4.1″ screen that runs on the sweet Snapdragon platform (which includes a 1GHz CPU) that has dimensions that makes the Touch HD look thick. The verdict? While the hardware is super sweet, the software needs work. The new interface, though pretty, seems to be a novelty with no real utility. Also, the software running on the TG01 seems to be an early alpha, so the demo unit was prone to crashing and slowness. Hopefully Toshiba gets it right before it launches the device this summer in Europe. For more pics, click on to WMExperts.

Update: Here is some video from Engadget. Here we get to see the “shake to get back to home screen” functionality, plus we we get to witness the questionable usefulness of the Toshiba stripes, which seems to be a glorified program launcher.
