MWC: HTC Says Bigger is Better

As the dust settles following the announcement of the new HTC Touch Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2, we can delve deeper into each of these devices.

Let's take a look at size and weight for the new devices compared to the device that they replace. In both cases, the new releases are bigger and heavier than their predecessors. In the image below, we see that the Diamond 2 is a tad thicker than the Diamond, plus taller. We also see that the new Touch Pro is a tad thinner, but much wider and taller (to accompany that huge 3.6" screen) than the original Touch Pro.

In terms of weight, the Diamond is 110 grams, while the Diamond 2 is 117 grams. Then, the Touch Pro is 165 grams and the new Touch Pro 2 is 175 grams.

That said, we're not complaining too much about the seeming growth spurt that these two devices have undergone. The original Diamond was super petite and had room to grow without compromising its appeal, and we see that manifested in the new Diamond. And the Touch Pro, which is targeted right at the business user, grows a bit more in size, but with this growth comes a lot of really compelling new features (large tilting screen, new speakerphone technology, etc).
