In this video, we cover the software of the LG Incite.
The Incite uses vibration feedback to let you know that you’ve pressed on the screen. This has become more common in Samsung devices like the Omnia, Epix, and several “dumbphones” found on various carriers. While I think the vibration feedback is useful while using the on-screen keyboard, having it for every screen tap may be a waste of battery life.
The Today screen included is highly customizable – you can have an icon bar and clock/weather area surround the standard Today screen, or minimize the Today screen area if you want to hide it away.
In terms of software throughout the rest of the device, we find a lot of java-based trialware, plus a sub-par web browser (NetFront). There are two on-screen keyboards, both of which are easy to use. The first is a SureType-style for use in portrait; then, after rotating the device and having the screen automatically rotate, you get a nice fullscreen QWERTY that takes up almost the entire screen.
We’ll be back soon with the full review of the LG Incite. And, in case you missed it, check out our hardware tour and unboxing video.
