The LG Incite, joining the ranks of the many Windows Mobile smartphones now on AT&T, has a slate-like design, much like the Omnia. It’s also covered by a lot chrome.
The screen is 3″ and has wide QVGA resolution, so that’s 400 down and 240 across just like the Omnia (though the Omnia’s screen is larger by .2″). It has an accelerometer for automatic screen rotation, plus all of the connectivity options you’d expect from a new Windows Mobile device (HSDPA, FM Radio, WiFi, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.0, etc). Like the Touch HD, the Incite has no D-Pad, but it actually has a scrolling mechanism on the side of the device to help with moving up and down and selecting, which is a good addition.
My first impressions of the device are mixed – while it’s got an eye-catching design that feels solid in hand, a closer inspection reveals hardware that isn’t as high quality as it should be. The haptic vibration feedback is interesting, and I’m not sure whether I’ll be keeping it on. Something that is super-cool, and a first for a Windows Mobile device, is that the Incite has a proximity sensor, so it turns off the screen when you hold the device to your face.
Much more on the LG Incite coming up soon!
