i-mate Wants You To Stuff Your Phone in a WinMo Netbook

i-mate is proposing yet another Windows Mobile netbook concept, coming out with a smartphone and netbook design that is reminiscent of Palm’s unreleased and squashed Foleo concept and the Celio REDFLY keyboard and display extender for your Windows Mobile device.

i-mate’s proposed concept is basically a shell that will house a larger display and keyboard for your smartphone, with your phone powering this “laptop-like” shell. The device has the code name of Warrior according to Pocket-Lint. Basically, the shell will use your smartphone for power–both in terms of OS and software as well as physical hardware. The device itself will not have any operating system as it will rely on your Windows Mobile phone, basically using the phone and displaying its content on a roughly 10-inch display with full keyboard. The phone will also act as a trackpad for the device, possibly even providing a second display.

There will be a memory card slot and no hard drive to keep costs low at around $200. While the Warrior from i-mate isn’t the first of its kind, it definitely is a cool concept, actually using the smartphone as a trackpad.
