i-mate Teases with a New Device for MWC 2009

Good ol’ i-mate is teasing us with a “breakthrough” device for Mobile World Congress according to WMPowerUser. Dubbed a revolutionary device that is like nothing else, i-mate is expecting to regain relevance in the mobile game.

Ever since i-mate and HTC no longer had an agreement, the firm has brought some great devices to market, with specs that are ahead of HTC’s release, like VGA screens. The Ultimate 9502 really had it all in its day when it was first announced, but delay after delay and it became lost in the crowd.

Given all the public’s attention on Palm’s recent “breakthrough” Pre, should i-mate even consider trying for MWC 2009 or should it just wait until it has a device before even announcing anything and avoid further delays? I’d have to say unless a release is imminent, the device may not be relevant as the mobile space is already crowded and companies are already looking to out-innovate each other.
