HTC Will Be Using Qualcomm Snapdragon Chips

If Snapdragon sounds familiar, it is because it’s been in the news recently with the awesomeness that is the Toshiba TG01 WVGA phone with a huge display. HTC will be the second Windows Mobile licensee to announce that it will be using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset in its upcoming lineup. According to IntoMobile, HTC’s Snapdragon phones will launch in the second quarter. Rumor has it that this will be the 1 GHz processor from Qualcomm.

Other licensees of the chipset include: Samsung, LG, Acer, Asus, Quanta Computer, Compal, Wistron, Inventec and Foxconn.

I wonder whatever happened to the rumors of HTC using the Tegra chipsets, which is another powerful competing mobile processor.

Hopefully, we’ll continue to see more great news for Qualcomm and HTC in the future as the former has purchased AMD’s multimedia and graphics technologies recently.
