HTC Athena is Released as the Ameo in Europe

It looks like the powerful and sleek HTC Universal successor, the HTC Athena, is being sold over in Europe on the T-Mobile network as the Ameo. The specs are along the same lines as rumored: an Intel XScale processor at 624MHz, a high resolution 5 inch VGA screen, an 8GB hard disk, GSM with UMTS and HSDPA, a 3.0 megapixel camera (yes, 3) and a high capacity 2100 mAh battery. This isn’t something that is likely to slip into your pocket without causing a huge bulkĀ…it’s also heavy: as a comparison, the HTC Wizard weighs 169 grams , the Treo 700w is 178 grams, and the Ameo is a healthy 355 grams. This is more like a laptop supplement than a mobile device.

It’ll probably be a while (if ever) before we see this in the US, but it’s fun to dream. For the full post including more pictures, click here.
