ETEN M500: New Equipment Blog - Day 03

The word for the day: Hard Reset. I know that I said you shouldn't fear the hard reset, but that was before the ETEN M500.

My PDA2k has an Extended ROM. With that, I can customize my device, and quickly install most of the software that I would want on it. The ETEN M500 doesn't have an Extended ROM, so I have to do everything manually.

Again, I don't mind it so much. The problem is software compatability. Something, and I'm not entirely certain what it is yet, is making my M500 crap out either during an install, or while its in the cradle (and just sitting there).

From a usability perspective, the device is DEFINITELY different from my PDA2k. With no keyboard, responding to e-mail is interesting. The touch screen is definitly less sensative than my PDA2k, and with the 2.8 inch screen, I've got to be very specific about where and how hard I touch the keys on Spb's Full Screen Keyboard.

Small is good, though. I like the device and it size. I just have to get over a usability paradigm shift.
