A couple of different sites are reporting that HP and Cingular have FINALLY announced the release of HP’s 6500 Series Mobile Messenger. (You can see the pocketnow.com review, done 01-Sept-05, here.) The device should retail for $499 USD with a 2 year contract.
Interestingly enough, it hasn’t made its appearance in the Nashville, TN market yet. Cingular doesn’t list it as available when I shop for PDA’s and Phones. I’m wondering how compelling this device will be, seeing as the release of the 6700 is supposedly just around the corner. While that device won’t have dual slots (SD and MiniSD) in order to make room for the WiFi radio, it WILL definitely have WM5, according to all of the latest hub-bub.
I’m not entirely certain that this device will make as big an impact as Cingular is hoping it will. Unfortunately, this has taken WAY too long to get to market. I got over this device a long time ago, especially with the release of the i-mate K-JAM (see our review, here).
Does this entice you at all? Are you interested in this device? Why not join in the discussion and let us know…
