This year, Christmas came a little early for me. I’ve been saying it for about a year. I picked up a Mac Book Pro, and I’m in the process of figuring out how to get Windows on it now.
Doing that isn’t as simple or as easy as downloading Boot Camp. There are a few hidden gotchas that I didn’t know about.
1. Mac OSX takes up about 27GB of space, leaving 93GB available on a 120GB drive.
2. Boot Camp requires XP SP2 or later. You can’t install an earlier version and then upgrade to SP2, you have to start at SP2. (This is the MBP’s EFI BIOS limitation
3. Installing Windows XP or Vista MUST be done with a full version license/CD. An upgrade CD can’t be used.
I’m going to be writing an review of the computer for Gear Diary, so keep your eyes open for that to hit around the first of the year.
