Apple's New Shuffle is Not Really the First Talking Music Player

File under: News

Today, Apple announced a new iPod Shuffle and their website describes it as:

"The world’s smallest music player also happens to be the world’s first talking one."

World's first talking music player? Yeah, right! Windows Mobile has had this capability since 2003. Remember when the first version of Microsoft Voice Command was released? That software added full voice control and media selection text-to-speech confirmations to the Windows Mobile Media Player.

For 6 years I've been asking my music player "What song is this?" and it would tell me the name of the song and who sings it.
