Acer Tempo M900 Unboxing Video

The Acer Tempo M900 may turn out to be a lower-cost alternative to the Touch Pro2 that happens to have the proper bands to do USA 3G.

In this video, we unbox Acer’s new flagship device, which comes with a screen just as large as the Touch HD (3.8″), beating the Touch Pro2 by 0.2″.

The M900 is running Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro with a Samsung 533MHz CPU. It’s got 256MB ROM and 128MB RAM (which is far too low for a device of this type), plus packs WiFi, Bluetooth, FM Radio, a light sensor, an accelerometer, external microSD expansion, a biometric security sensor, and a 5.0MP camera with a flash and autofocus. First impressions are very mixed. The device lacks good build quality which is typical for Acer (and previously E-TEN) devices, plus the software seems buggy at times. That said, the WVGA (800×480) screen is great, the keyboard has a large surface area, the biometric pad also can act as an optical mouse cursor or D-Pad, and there is a new proprietary shell interface that tries to add some innovation to Windows Mobile.

Right now you can get a Tempo M900 from Clove for £390 which is about $640. That is about $80 cheaper than the Touch Pro2.

We’ll be back soon with more on the Acer M900!
