Acer Tempo M900 Software Tour

In this video, we cover the software on the Acer Tempo M900.

We first go through the Acer Shell interface. It’s an overall useful addition to Windows Mobile, but we can’t help notice the similarities to TouchFLO 3D in certain places. Also, we’re not sure there is much utility in having a 3D-like desktop interface for a phone device. The Acer Shell places everything on three screens, which can mean a lot of gesturing side to side. Also, Acer Shell doesn’t go very deep in terms of its integration with the rest of the operating system.

The biometric security scanner works quite well to provide added security to the device. If you’re using it as an optical mouse of D-Pad, you may find it to be unreliable and buggy.

Overall, the M900 software is buggy at times and is not super-refined like it is on the Touch Pro2. I’ve heard from a beta tester for the M900 who encouraged Acer to release a more bug-free ROM before sending the M900 to retail, and they didn’t listen.

We’ll have the full review coming up shortly. In case you missed it, check out the hardware tour and unboxing video.
