As we wait for the first wave of Windows Mobile 6.5 devices to ship in October, it looks like we’ll be waiting quite a few months past that for the sweet XPERIA X2 to land.

According to eXpansys, which is often quite accurate with release dates, the X2 will be shipping in early January (instead of Q4 as originally thought) at the knock-your-socks-off price of around £604.99, which comes out to about $1,005. Naturally, because only five people on the planet would pay that much for a mobile device, we expect that price to come down several notches before shipping. That, or it will become available at a subsidized price on one or more carriers around the world.
